Reaching Students

Find a Certified Facilitator

The success of Horse Powered Reading has led to interest around the world. Our ranch is located in Lino Lakes, MN and we now train facilitators around the globe in our method. Search our Find a Program page to see if there is a Horse Powered Reading Program near you.

“My 5 yr old son just finished kindergarten and I feel is behind and not prepared to enter first grade. With Covid-19 cutting off a lot of what would have been foundational blocks for reading, I was relieved to see him start to ‘get it’.

The first day he was determined not to participate in HPR and was shy. At Story Ranch LLC, the volunteers were warm and inviting and Joshua’s resistance seemed to melt. By day 2 he told me, “Mom it’s getting easier.” I asked, “What is easier...being around the horses? “
He said “No, the reading is getting easier.” This is a boy who has been wanting to learn to read and with our family life with both parents working full time, it has been exceptionally difficult to shift gears with a virtual school closing out the school year.

Doing a form of home school with virtual supplements from the school district, I had to come to terms with the fact that I am not a literacy professional nor am I a teacher. Horse Powered Reading has given me hope as a parent! And this experience has allowed us to interact with peers, horses, enjoy being outside- all within the limitations of social distancing!
